The intelligent charger with a microprocessor is used for the rapid charging of car and motorcycle batteries. It is suitable for charging all types of lead-acid batteries WET, MF, CA, EFB, GEL, AGM. It features protection against overheating, short-circuiting, and incorrect connection. A large display informs about the current charging mode and the current battery voltage. The solid construction ensures a longer lifespan of the device.
The microprocessor-controlled car charger has 4 charging modes:
1. Constant voltage – use of direct current for charging the battery by controlling, to ensure the charging current is not too high by reducing during the process.
2. Constant current – indicates that the battery voltage is lower than the set voltage of the charger, but the charger will maintain a constant charging current for the battery.
3. DC charging – when the battery voltage approaches the nominal voltage and the charging current is low to the set current, it switches to modulation of float charging. This means that the battery is charged but continuously monitored for voltage drop and automatically recharged with alternating current.
4. AC charging – the mode keeps the battery fully charged.
Charging occurs in 8 charging steps:
1. DIAGNOSTICS stage – analysis of the battery, its charge status, and the correctness of the connection between the battery and the charger
2. DESULFATION stage – identification of sulfated battery, charging with low voltage and high-frequency pulsating current allows the removal of sulfate from the battery plates, thereby restoring its original capacity.
3. ANALYSIS stage – checks if the battery is not damaged and if it can accept the charging current – prevents charging of a damaged battery.
4. SOFT START stage – if the battery is not damaged, it starts charging with a relatively low current and gradually increases its value.
5. MAIN CHARGING stage – charging with the maximum constant intensity current with automatically regulated value depending on the state of battery charge until it reaches 80% of battery capacity.
6. FINAL CHARGING stage – charging with decreasing current and constant voltage until it reaches 100% of battery capacity.
7. ANALYSIS stage – battery charging test, which lasts about 2 minutes. If after stopping the charging, the battery charge level does not decrease, the charging process is completed.
8. PULSATING stage – monitoring of battery voltage and maintaining optimal charging at 95-100% capacity through charging current pulses.
